Clermont to host 2017 USA Canoe/Kayak Sprint National Championship
The 2017 USA Canoe/Kayak Sprint National Championships will be held at Waterfront Park, Clermont, on August 2-5. Opening ceremonies will be hosted at the Highlander Building on Tuesday, August 1st at 4:30 pm with Native American dancers and opening remarks by Clermont Mayor, Gail Ash and City Manager, Darren Gray.

American Beach Tour Championships to reach record attendance at Hickory Point Beach
The 2017 American Beach Tour (ABT) Junior Championships begin this Wednesday, July 26th and ends Friday, July 28th. There will be over 90 junior beach teams across 14 states who will participate in the 3-day event. The teams are comprised of some of the top junior beach teams in the country, who have won bids to this event by finishing in the top of their divisions during various ABT tournaments across the United States.

Lake County welcomes new women’s soccer league
The Orlando Kicks FC is starting its first season in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), a national amateur league with more than 100 teams across the country. Sponsored by Lake County Economic Development & Tourism, the team will play its home games at Montverde Academy Soccer Stadium, kicking off the season on June 4 at 7 p.m.

Lake County to be featured on the world’s most watched fishing TV show
Jack Link’s Major League Fishing, the most-watched fishing show on television, recently filmed its Shell Rotella Challenge Cup on the Harris Chain of Lakes. The Challenge Cup, which is the 13th Major League Fishing production, will showcase 30 of the world’s top competitive anglers as they tackle the water bodies of Lake County.

South Lake Trail users are urged to exercise caution while boardwalk repairs are underway
The South Lake Trail’s boardwalk section, along County Road 455 between State Road 50 and Old Highway 50, will be closed weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. from Monday, April 4 through Friday, April 22 while repairs are made.
